My first 18 months Living at Sick Kids Goodbye to 4 Heather Rivlin's photos A precious 5 weeks Mom and Dad's Blog |
The first morning home, Heather Rivlin took photographs with us - the next day she emailed us a picture (third below) and then she worked on a deeply moving slide show. Heather was the first photographer in Toronto to offer
paliative care photo sessions. A beautiful article in the Toronto Star moved us deeply and planted a seed that helped us deal with Sasha's declining health while we were at Sick Kids.
The wonderful organization is Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep and that is where we found Heather's website. Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep by Melissa Yue in the November / December 2006 issue of Beyond Ordinary Living focuses on Heather's work and includes photos of Sasha. "Photographs are a lasting treasure for the parents of dying children. A new program provides a free service that combines compassion and creativity to record even the briefest of lives." |
